"When
I was young they tried to bounce me out of camp for being different. I do not want any child to
feel as isolated as I felt and my hope is that everyone has a great opportunity and can
have a smile on their face when they come home from my camp. I know my staff and I will make that possible." -Mighty Mike
Simmel, Founder, Bounce Out the Stigma™
In
developing such a unique camp one of the first things you need is the type of personalities that will help guide the
children along the way. Here at Bounce Out the Stigma™ we believe in youth experiencing the team
elements of sports over the competititve aspects. Most importantly, we want all of our campers to learn the self-confidence
and empowerment that are attached to developing new skill sets and overcoming creative obstacles. That ideal
comes from the top of the camp spread all the way throughout its workers.
Bounce Out the Stigma™ Summer
Camps features staff that are involved in making camp a better place for the children involved. The founder of
the program, Mike Simmel, is also the director of the camps. The remainder of our staff is made of teachers, coaches and athletes all making
sure each camper has a great week and can be relatable to all. Our movement is a youth movement as we feel that
is what children thrive on best and what brings out the best in each one of our campers. Experience is important especially in working with the lives of young people. In addition to our founder and co-director, we
have multiple teachers and college and high school athletes on staff to work with the campers. The
student/staff ratio is 4:1 with a potential for more. We have a full time nurse
on staff, Alice Wright, of the Glen Rock (NJ) School System, to administer to children
who need any specific care, medications, or medical attention. If you are interested in joining the
Bounce Out the Stigma™Summer Camp staff, for a fulfilling lifetime experience please contact Mighty Mike Basketball.
