Fairleigh Dickinson University teams up with "Mighty Mike" Simmel and
the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey to help Bounce Out the Stigma™
Youth Special Needs Awareness Night and Basketball Clinic
All attendees and their families had a night of basketball fun as
the festivities kicked off with a basketball clinic at 5:00 with "Mighty Mike" Simmel, before the Fairleigh Dickinson University versus Wagner College Men's basketball game. The clinic took place in the state of the art Rothman Center,
on the same court which the teams played on that evening. After the hour long clinic of skills, drills and
fun, a pizza party and reception was held courtesy of the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey. Parents and their
children had a ticket provided by the host FDU Knights as they did battle in what was a great
Northeast Conference basketball battle to the final buzzer versus the top notch Seahawks.
At halftime of the game, the children not only
watched but were the participants of the show! They had the opportunity to walk across the court to a rousing ovation
just before and after "Mighty Mike's" dribbling exhibition. They saw Mike perform his one man basketball halftime show live
at center court. And after the game to top it all off, attendees stayed and got autographs from the FDU players
and "Mighty Mike" Simmel. A great night had by all.
Should you or any group be interested in either taking part or hosting a future special event
through The Bounce Out the Stigma Project please contact Pat Connelly or Mike Simmel.
